Noriko “Nickey” Boatright of Fort Smith, Arkansas, left her earthly home on Friday, September 17, 2021, at the age of 75. Nickey was born October 20, 1945, in Manchuria, China to the late Kinnosuke and Nao (Ogusu) Kasuya.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Boatright of Fort Smith Arkansas; one daughter, Adina Boatright, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Alize Boatright, of Joplin, Missouri; a brother, Takeshi Kasuya and his wife of Shimofujisawa, Japan; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Nickey was a homemaker and member of Mulberry Church of Christ. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and a Proverbs 31 godly woman. She was a wonderful cook and loved gardening, sewing, knitting, playing cards, and watching college sports. Nickey was small in stature but had a huge heart and larger-than-life personality. She never met a stranger and her animated expressions, funny stories, and contagious energy made her loved by all.
Nickey met the love of her life, a tall, handsome American airman who she married on June 26, 1969. Her loving husband was always by her side and their love was a beautiful testament to all. The other jewels in her life were her daughter and granddaughter; she was extremely proud of her girls. She cherished every moment spent with her family and lived each day to the fullest.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith, Arkansas. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 9:30 AM at West Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith. Graveside services will follow at the National Cemetery of Fort Smith at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
