Olive J. Passmore

Olive Joann Passmore of Fort Smith passed away November 16, 2013. She was born July 9 to Harree and Gertrude Josephine (Ryden) Batliner in Salina, Kansas. Olive was married November 10, 1962 to Harold Ted Passmore in Salina, KS. They had one daughter together, Ann Kay Passmore. Harold passed away February 29, 1984. Olive then traveled and visited her daughter, where she was training in medical school in Little Rock, medical residency training in NC and Birmingham, AL, as well as Boston and Maine. Olive worked in the Evans Grain office in Salina after she graduated from college and she was an Eastern Star. When she married Harold, she was the bookkeeper for his business and was qualified to teach high school math. They moved to Arkansas in 1962. She enjoyed traveling and she visited all 50 states. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Women’s Circle Group 1. She was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandson.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann K. Passmore, M.D.; grandson, Harold Powell Sanders; nephew, Gary Nelson of Falun, Kansas; stepson Ted Passmore and wife Carol of Deville, LA; stepson Alan Passmore and wife Enny of Little Rock, AR; stepson Chris Passmore and wife Yvonne of Cottonwood Falls, KS; stepdaughter Connie Pretzer and husband Terry of Strong City, KS; and stepson Tom Passmore and wife Barbara of Boyce, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Passmore, and by her only sister, Marie G. Nelson of Falun, KS. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 19, 5:00-7:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Phillip Blackburn, on Wednesday, November 20, at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Nelson, Alan Passmore, Ted Passmore, W. Powell Sanders, A. Powell Sanders, and Gary Means.
