

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Roy Strange, who left us on April 23, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on February 10, 1937, in Arlington, Washington, Robert lived a vibrant life, filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Robert, affectionately known as “Bob” to his family and friends, was a man of many talents and passions. He was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for over 10+years. Bob received numerous awards. Here are some of his accomplishments: bronze Star Medal, meritorious Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.
He was also a distinguished member of the Golden Knights Parachute team from 1968-1976. Bob’s daring spirit was evident as he performed numerous jumps, capturing the essence of bravery and dedication.
After his military service, Bob found his calling as a blackjack dealer in the bustling city of Las Vegas, where he worked until his retirement, His quick wit and charm were as much a part of his dealing as the cards themselves, earning him many friends and admirers over the years.
Bob’s love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for flying kites and tending to his garden. Whether soaring a kite high into the clear blue sky or meticulously caring for his yard, Bob found peace and joy in nature’s embrace. His zest for life was contagious, often punctuated by his readiness to share a joke.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his cherished wife of 32 years, Terry Strange, with whom he traveled the United States creating memories that will forever be treasured. Together, they shared a remarkable journey filled with adventure and companionship.
Bob is survived by his brother, Bruce Strange and his wife Jeanne, a son Lonnie and daughter Shelly and a loving extended family that includes his stepchildren: Barbara Howard and her husband Ricky, Karen Stallings and her husband David, Mike Davis and his wife Karen, and Thomas Davis and his wife Debbie. He has seven step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
In his family’s own words, “bob was bob, always a strange character; his name suited him well.” His unique personality and infectious humor will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Robert Strange will be remembered as a loving husband, and a true friend. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace, his spirit soaring high among the kites he so loved.
A graveside service will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
