Ross proudly served his country in Vietnam and received several medals. He was diagnosed with Agent Orange in 2009 and of which he fought his longest battle. Ross was a believer in Christ and counted on God for his strength to see him through every step in his life.
He was a 6th degree black belt in Shorin-ryu Karate. He had his own dojo and taught Karate for many years. He also taught self-defense courses at Westark Community College. He is survived by many of his students and his top black belt and lifelong friend, Ron Helton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jean Flanary, sister, Deborah Wiegand and his dear cousins Carl Martinous ll and Jackie Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Jill Flanary and his son Jack Ross Flanary of the home; his sister, Rochelle Scherrey and husband David of Greenwood, AR, his brother Galon Flanary and wife Marie, of Bella Vista, AR, and his dear cousins Randy Parker and Trina, and Sabrina Croom and husband Brandon.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he loved.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel March 3, 2023 at 12pm, with burial to follow with military honors at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Parker, William Boo Spears, Chris Morland, Matt Meyer, Montell Meyer and Nathan Meyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Martinous lll and Ron Helton.
