

Irvin Wayne Hancock, 95, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed from this life December 2, 2021 in Fort Smith. He was born July 23, 1926, in Independence, Missouri to Nephi Alma Hancock and Katherine Nichols Hancock. Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II.
Following his time in the Navy, Wayne started his (first) professional career with the JCPenney Company. Retiring as Manager after 40 years with the retail company. Not to let retirement slow him down, Wayne embarked on career path number two in commercial real estate sales with Warmack & Company. And lastly, professionally speaking, Wayne became a published local author with 15 books to his credit.
Wayne had committed himself to lifetime of community service. He was very active with Kiwanis
International, over 50 years, holding several offices with the organization. Wayne had even been elected as Justice of the Peace for a time. Wayne always put God, family and country above all else.
Wayne is survived by those who meant the most, daughters K. C. Shay and Margaret Jean Hancock; son Paul Jeffery Hancock; seven grandchildren Eric Hancock, Mariah McCurry, Crystal Hancock, Chad Hancock, Laura Weaver, Stephanie Shay and Andrea Meneses; nine great grandchildren, Sarah and Daniel Weaver, Evelynn McCurry, Landon and Audrina Meneses, Shelbie Boatright, Maxwell Wallace, and Tristan and Jada Hancock; three great great grandchildren, Rose, Braxton and Lillie Boatright. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Sarah June Collins Hancock; his parents; a son Stephen Wayne Hancock; and his siblings, Charles, Louis, LeRoy, Katherine and Edward.
A memorial service will be 1:00pm Friday, December 10, 2021 at Community Bible Church in Greenwood, followed by burial of cremated remains with U. S. Navy Honors at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
