

William Lowell “Bill” Barton, 84, of Fort Smith, died Sunday December 17, 2017 in Fort Smith. He was born June 16, 1933 in Dayton, AR to Ruben R. and Nancy Ethel Presson Barton. Bill was an extraordinary man who enjoyed helping everyone he met. He was an avid gardener, constantly donating produce to his friends and family, a skilled beekeeper, producing for his community and an all around outstanding man. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired form Southwestern Bell/AT&T with over 34 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Barton of the home; three daughters, Nancy Kenner and husband Ricky, Cathy Sisco and husband Jim, and Melissa Barton; one brother, Charles Barton; six grandchildren, Candice Underwood, Lindsay Bates, Tony Crockett, Jr., Ashley Turner, Matthew Sisco, and John Sisco; eight great grandchildren, Mariah & Dylan Jeffcoat, Riley Underwood, Tray Crockett, Ella and Amelia Turner, and Carter and Greysen Bates. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Ethel Barton; six brothers, Vernon, Lawrence, Truman, Carroll, Jacob, and Jerry Barton; and six sisters, Opal, Velma, Reba, Dorothy, Althea, and Edris.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Hartford Memorial Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM.
