Still missing you!  You were the best neighbor!  Two years has gone by and we thank you for looking over us.

I just wanted to say thank you for being such a great mentor to me and that no one can or ever will be able to replace such a great mentor as yourself. I tried to reach out to you around my birthday in January but I didn't find out about your passing until later in the year. I'm sorry I wasn't able to tell  you in person how much I appreciate you and how you changed my life in such a great way. I know you are in a better place now and are with your loved ones in the heavens.

You will be missed by many including myself, and I especially want to thank you for being my mentor and being there for me and others like myself.

Dear Mr. Shupe,

I found out today after trying to call several times and then searching to make sure that I had the right number that you passed away. Thank you for being there for me when I needed it most. For 11 years, you were a rock for me. Just so you know, I am graduating from the University of Southern California this May and it's because of people like you that I am where I am today. I wish your family the best and they were so lucky to have you. Rest in Peace. You deserve it.

My Uncle Al was a very kind man, with a calm spirit and always a sense of humor.  He will be missed!
I had the privilege of being one of the flower girls in Uncle Al and Aunt Anita's wedding over 45 years ago!
When my brother, Matt, and I were little, and before Uncle Al and Aunt Anita had Brad, Doug or Paul, Uncle Al and Aunt Anita would let Matt and I spend the night at their house.  They'd take us to a Disney movie and out for dinner.  Fun memories!
We have shared many a meal with my uncle, aunt and cousins at my Mom's house for birthdays or holidays - with my Mom's awesome roast beef, and hash brown casserole, and Aunt Anita's famous deviled eggs!  It won't be the same without him.
I respect Uncle Al very much for his consistent investment into other people's lives, and for how he handled his health challenges these past several years.  Even though it is very sad to say goodbye to him, I'm so thankful he is not suffering any longer, and is in heaven with Jesus.

Hi Shupe family — Thinking of and praying for you. I’m so sorry. God bless your time together at Uncle Al’s service.

Dear Anita and boys, our sincere condolences for the loss of Alan. As California Ave neighbors we enjoyed many a Christmas Brunch and summer block parties.
Great memories to be celebrated. We had the pleasure of Paul serving as Jerry’s physical therapist last week. Again our prayers and condolences.

So sorry for your loss.  Steve and I will have fond memories of Al till the day we meet him in heaven.  He was so positive about stuff and wasn't going to let things bring him down.  He's sitting down right this very minute telling the Dear Lord "Now you know Purdue is playing Monday the 2nd and you know what I want." And we all know what he wants. He thought so much of his sister, Laura and his brother in law Mark.  He was very proud of his sons and adored his grandchildren.  And he thought so much of Anita the love of his life. Bless all of you.  I'll miss our November Birthday celebration dinners.

Steve and I have known Al/ Anita for many years.  Our friendship led us doing many events plus celebrating milestones together thru the years.   A lot of good fun times!
Al was a Faithful and good person that cared for all.  We’re sure going to miss him.  May his Soul rest in Peace.

My deepest condolences to Anita, Doug, Paul, Brad and their families.  

I first met Al in 1975 in the Fort Wayne University Club, a singles club where each of us met our future wives.  Al and I used to play tennis at my apartment tennis courts every week and then we’d go to my apartment and watch M*A*S*H.  I was a groomsman at Al and Anita’s wedding.  Later we’d go on camping trips together with our families and other friends every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend.  We did this for well over 40 years.  We were in Indian Guides together with our boys and as Purdue grads we attended many Purdue football games together.  Later we were in a Bible Study group together, the CSI Class, along with our wives at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church.  Al was an inspiration to me because he always maintained a very optimistic attitude and had a great amount of faith even during the times when he faced major medical problems.  

I will greatly miss my good friend.  R.I.P. Al.  I’ll see you on the other side.  

Best picture of him but not the shirt!!!   He also was the best neighbor I have had for the last 26 years.  Now Anita will have to fill that role.  My condolences to the boys and their familys, all  relatives and friend.  Very sad...
