

ALLEDA LOUISE ELAM, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at home. Born in New Haven, Ind., Alleda worked as a shoe salesperson for 42 years, retiring in 1998. She was known as the "Cookie Lady" of the 3 Fountain Apartments for 15 years. She was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 296, D.A.V. and V.F.W. Auxiliary 10006, Alpha Kappa Sorority of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, 9-hole McMillan Golf League, Parkview White Cross Auxiliary, Parkview Seniors Club, Parkview Senior Stretchers, Mary-Ruth Circle of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church; and former volunteer with Parkview Hospital; former member of Rose Society and Fort Wayne Women's Club. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, golf and her grandchildren. Surviving are her granddaughters, Jennifer (Paul J. Jr.) Schuler and Heather Byrd, both of Fort Wayne, and Danielle (Jeff) Gulyas of Bowling Green, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Julian and Sydney Schuler, Miranda and J D Gulyas and T. J. and Matthew Byrd; half brother, James Stults of Arlington, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Elam; parents, John and Anna Mary Bennett; daughter, Cheri Lynn Haley; and half brothers, Kenneth and Robert Bennett. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
