

Allen Mitchell, 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026. Born in Greensboro, Alabama, Allen lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and steadfast devotion to family and friends. His warm smile, boisterous laugh, and generous spirit were a constant source of comfort and joy to those around him.
A dedicated and hardworking colleague throughout his career, Allen spent nearly two decades with Patton Electric and later worked more than five years with D&W Fine Pack. He took pride in a job well done, earning the trust and admiration of coworkers who valued his reliability and strong work ethic.
Allen is survived by his significant other of more than five decades, Rebecca Billingsley; his children, Stacey Billingsley, LaShaun Mitchell, Cassandra Watley (Michael Watley), Brianna Williams, and Charrisse Walker; and by two grandsons whom he lovingly helped raise as sons, Cedrick Mitchell and James Mitchell. He is also remembered by his siblings, Christine Paige, Walter Mitchell, George Mitchell, and Carrie Mitchell; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie “Mr. Red” Mitchell, Martha Benson, his son, Eric Mitchell Sr., his siblings, Eddie James Mitchell and Sarah Thomas, his niece, Martha Hollifield, and a grandson, Porter La'Shon Billians.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior.
