Amanda Delagrange, 99, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Heritage Pointe of Fort Wayne. Born in Woodburn, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Saloma (Hochstetler) Delagrange.
Amanda and her late husband, Lewis, celebrated nearly 75 years of marriage. Together they owned and managed a construction company, working together daily to build the business and to provide loving care for their immediate family and for their extended family members. Amanda was formerly an active member of Grabill Missionary Church, serving on various committees, as President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, and teaching children’s Bible classes for 14 years. She also actively supported the Harlan PTA. She loved learning and sharing new skills, creating hats, styling wigs, dyeing shoes. She was an accomplished seamstress and tailor, and loved creating new fashions for her daughters and grandchildren. She spent many hours creating and maintaining a beautiful home and garden. Her great love for her family often kept her up late into the night as she expressed her love with acts of service. She diligently believed and lived out I Corinthians 10:13, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
Surviving are her daughters, all residing in Fort Wayne, IN, Joan (Richard) Phillips, Jan (Kevin) Klee, and Beth Mix; grandchildren, David and Katherine Phillips, Margaret (Brandon) Ruling, and Karen (Tyler) Shawgo; siblings, Jacob Delagrange, Dorothy Eberly, Carolyn Ewing, and Garry Delagrange.
