Anna Goetze Hartshorn, 100, passed away May 10, 2024 at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born February 21, 1924, in Port Chester, New York; the daughter of Joseph Goetze and Edith Carrieri Gasparino. She graduated from Greenwich, CT. High School. After high school, Anna worked as a switchboard operator at the Pickwick Hotel and Bell Telephone Company in Greenwich. Anna and Bill were married on December 26, 1942 in Mamaroneck, NY. They moved to Milford in 1956 where she was the secretary to the guidance counselor at Milford High School for 17 years and retired in 1985. In 1986, they moved to Ellenton, Florida for 8 years. In 1994, they moved to Fort Wayne to be with Pam, Don, and Sarah. She volunteered at Lutheran Hospital delivering mail to the patients. Anna loved to dance, enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, Dancing with the Stars, working word find books and knitting. She loved her dogs and her family. She was a people person and loved to be around others. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church in downtown Fort Wayne. Bill and Anna were married for 70 years before Bill passed in 2013.
She is survived by her son, Randy (Dawn) Hartshorn of Orange, CT; daughter Pamela (Don) Bradbury of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Haskitt of Milford, CT; Sean (Nickie) Hartshorn of Orange, CT; Sarah (David) Croteau of Atkinson, NH; great grandchildren, Deacon and Hunter Hartshorn, Arlie and Finley Haskitt, and Benjamin Croteau.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Hartshorn; son, William “Bruce” Hartshorn; sister, Emily Kovacik; and brother, Joseph Goetze, Jr.
Memorial service will be 5:00 pm Thursday, May 16, 2024 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation from 2-5 pm. Private burial at Old Greenwich Congregational Church, Old Greenwich, CT. The family would like to thank the staff at Lutheran Life Villages; especially the staff on Magnolia Lane, for the compassionate care they showed their mother. Also, a big thank you to Eleos Hospice Care, who was always there to care for Anna and support her family.
