Barbara Lou Bercot

Barbara Lou Bercot of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Friday, March 4 th 2022, two days after her 88th birthday, surrounded by family and great love. She was born March 2nd, 1934, in Scotts, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Ovid Roe and Wilma (Bigelow) Roe.

Following graduation from Union City High School, Barbara moved to Fort Wayne to go to The International Business College. She met her future husband, Jim Elvin Bercot, at the Roller Dome when he was home on leave from the Navy, and asked her to skate together. They married March 18,1954, and Barbara eventually moved to San Diego, California, where Jim was stationed. Barbara worked many jobs including as an office assistant, and then later as an excellent homemaker and mother. She and Jim, who passed away in 2005, started what has become a large and growing family of “Bercots.” Her loving family: (Late) Sister Arlene and husband, George Bingley (2nd spouse Elizabeth), Sister and husband Linda and Martin Minier; Son and wife, Marc and Kristi Bercot, Son and wife Douglas and Twila Bercot; Daughter, Beth (Bercot) Pedersen; and Daughter-in-law, Theresa (Wilcox) Bercot. She was much loved by her 7 grandchildren: Trent and wife Christina Bercot, and their 5 children and 3 grandchildren: Brandon and wife Samantha Bercot, and their 3 children: Dustin and former spouse Brittany (Huffine) Bercot, and their 2 Children, Phillip and wife Alivia Bercot, and their 3 children, Ross and wife Emilija Grinvalds, Jens Eric and fiancé Taylor (Stratton) Pedersen, and Elizabeth Pedersen.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also take place from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
