BERT WATKINS, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, 10:20 a.m., at Parkview Hospital Randallia Drive. Born July 4, 1936, in Simpson, Ky., he was a son of the late Edgar Watkins and Eliza (Banks). He was a laborer for Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation and a member of American Legion Post 241. Surviving are his daughter, Debra Waters of Summerville, S.C.; sons, Keith A. Watkins of Fort Wayne, Douglas L. Watkins of Monroeville, Ind. and Anthony Bert Watkins of Ladson, S.C.; sister, Doris J. Peterson of Wenatchee, Wash.; brother, A.C. Watkins of Wenatchee, Wash.; companion of 20 years, Marilyn Slaven of Fort Wayne; former wife, Sharon E. Watkins of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service is 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pastor Terry Habegger officiating.
