

Bonnie dedicated nearly 30 years of her life with a career in the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, a position she truly loved, before retiring at age 65. In retirement, she continued to stay active in her community, volunteering at the Fort Wayne Embassy Theatre. She also enjoyed countless afternoons playing bridge with her beloved bridge club friends, one of her greatest joys.
Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Richard Heffelfinger; daughters, Michelle Everson, Jill (Kevin) Kacer, and daughter-in-law Tammy Heffelfinger; as well as her cherished grandchildren Trey (Alex) Langford, Colby Spencer (Angie Wilson), Madison (Daniel) Kozlak, Cameron Kacer (Rebecca Suarez), Nolan Kacer, Kris Heffelfinger (Nancy Abell), Sankey Everson (Lindsey) and great-grandchildren, Alyvia and Lia Heffelfinger, Kennedy and Archer Everson.
Bonnie's greatest loves in life were travelling with her husband, and spending time with her family. Many of her happiest days were spent sitting on the back porch, enjoying the birds, squirrels and the occasional deer.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Francis Schnepp; her son, Marc Heffelfinger, son-in-law Bruce Everson; and her brother, Richard Schnepp.
Bonnie lived a wonderful life, surrounded by love. She will be dearly missed by her devoted family, and loving friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, and Erin’s House for Grieving Children.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
