

CARL CHRISTIAN SCHEIB, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born March 17, 1921, in Ansbach, Germany, he was a son of the late George and Babette (Meh-ringer) Scheiben-berger. Carl came to the U.S. with his family in December of 1923. He was an All-City football player and graduate of North Side High School, Class of 1939. He married the love of his life, Pauline, on Jan. 1, 1942. Shortly thereafter, Carl left to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 37 years; retiring in 1980. After retirement, he was also employed with Kroger for several years. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 50 years and was also a member of the American Legion Post 47. He enjoyed ice fishing, fishing, golf and traveling. "Carl was a good man who was deep in his faith and always wanted to do the right thing; he will be greatly missed." He is survived by his sons, David (Kathryn) Scheib of Warren and Daniel (Debbie) Scheib of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Kimberly Coolman of Warren, Jennifer (Cody) Ankney of Franklin and David (Shannon) Scheib of Ball Ground, Ga.; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Scheibenberger of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Poorman) Scheib; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Scheibenberger. Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
