Carllnitra Ja’Nair Gorman was born to Judy D. Gorman and Carl E. McKinley, Sr., in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the youngest daughter born to each of her parents out of a total of seven, collectively. She was affectionately nicknamed, "NeNe" by her family and friends, but later in life, she preferred to be called Nitra.
"NeNe", was raised in Fort Wayne and attended both Fort Wayne Community Schools and East Allen County Schools. She became a mother to two handsome sons, Jayahn O’Neil and Marteris O’Neil Smith. During their informative years, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio were she gave birth to her one and only beautiful daughter, Amere Mahkai Gorman, and through her father, raised a second daughter, Tamar "TJ” Battle as her own.
While living in Cincinnati, she worked as a Dental Assistant and then relocated to Mason, Ohio, where she worked for many years as a Customer Service Consultant with ADT Home Security Systems. After leaving ADT, NeNe wanted to become her own boss and was a founding member in creating and establishing the Platinum Logistics Company until she became ill.
Her passion in life were her three children, plus one, her parents and her many, many family members and friends. She had a zest for life and all the best things that came with it. These things included the latest fashions for herself and her children. She had an eye for home decor and most importantly, she kept up with the latest hair styles. Whenever you saw her, her crown would be fried, dyed and laid to the side!! A Diva for sure.
She accepted Christ along with her children, and became members of the West Chester Church of the Nazarene in West Chester, Ohio.
NeNe was very funny, outgoing and loved life and the people she met along the way. If you developed a solid relationship with her, you were not just a friend, you were her sister and her brother. She would always leave those she loved with an "I love you", or "I love you more."
Her smile alone made you love her, but her humor was unlike anyone else’s. As a child, NeNe had a cry that would make anyone cringe at the sound, due to the depth of her pitch. It was so bad, family members and friends would offer her money or candy to stop the crying, and it worked! What we wouldn't give to hear that again.
There are no words to express the pain we as a family are feeling at this time, but what gives us comfort and peace, is knowing that she was welcomed in the loving arms of our Lord and all the family members who left before her.
The broken hearts that remain on earth who misses and loves her deeply are her two sons, Jayahn and Marteris Smith; her two daughters, Amere Gorman and Tamar "TJ" Battle; her mother, Judy Gorman; her father, Carl (Helen) McKinley, Sr., her three sisters, McCaudra D. Gorman, Latoya McKinley and Racquel (Deion) Smith; her two brothers, Carl (Venette) McKinley, Jr. and Darryl, (Tila) Miller; six nieces, five nephews and many, many aunts, uncles, one great uncle, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Lymonda T. "Yo-Yo" Gorman-Cannon, her maternal grandparents, Shirley and Clevester Watson, Sr., Chestly and Sellia Whitt, Jr., paternal grandparents, James and lnez McKinley, Sr., four deceased uncles, and many great aunts and uncles, a few cousins, and a few friend.
