Carol Eilleen Hernandez, 78, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Born on December 15, 1944, in Defiance, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mary Frederick. She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1962, and married Joaquin “Jack” Hernandez, who survives, on November 24, 1987. Carol was a nurse who enjoyed working with the elderly in nursing homes. She loved working in her garden, going to the movies, and loved garage sales. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenny, Greg, and Gary; sisters, Barb, Kathy, and Nona; her children, Leah, Larry, Anne, Julie, and Jennifer; sister-in-law, Vivian; seven grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie; and brother, Denny.
A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Cancer Services of NE Indiana, Parkview Home Health and Hospice, or the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
