She was born on April 12, 1938, in Fort Wayne, to William and Mary Esta (Barr) Keehn. Carol was raised in Huntington, Indiana where she attended high school and met the love of her life, Stephen “Oley” Olinger.
Carol and Steve began their married life in Jacksonville, Florida, while Steve served in the Navy. In later years, they stayed active in veteran communities, including Navy Club Ship 48, where Carol served as Shipswriter.
In 1980, Carol and Steve opened Oley’s Pizza, where she poured her heart into the kitchen, creating many of the original recipes — including the famous Barr family house salad dressing that remains a favorite to this day.
Above all, Carol loved her family. She expressed that love in countless ways — through her home-cooked Sunday dinners, homemade birthday cakes, cheers from the stands, and the simple joy of time spent together. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support touched everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Michael (Jennifer) Olinger, Kevin (Karmen) Olinger, and Stephanie Conkling; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Dom) Baker, Megan (Bryan) Hossman, Jessica (Eric) Palumbo, Jay (Nina) Conkling, Erin Olinger, Adam Conkling, Ryan Conkling, and Cali Olinger; her great-grandchildren, Alesia, Ava, Kayden, Myla, Macy, Gianni, and Nova; and her sister, Janice Wilkins.
Carol was reunited in heaven with her parents; her beloved husband, Steve; her sister, Norma Beghtel; and her son-in-law, Greg Conkling.
