Catherine J. Long

CATHERINE "KAY" J. (LONG) HOCKENSMITH, 88, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015. Born April 30, 1926, in Sturgis, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Painter of Sturgis, Mich. Catherine held several Executive Assistant positions throughout her business career, the most recent with OmniSource. She had been a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 50 years and was an active volunteer there as well as several other organizations throughout the city. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel A. (Alice) Long of Fort Wayne and David E. (Christine) Long of New Canaan, Conn.; two grandsons, Alexander D. Long and Andrew E. Long; granddaughter, Angela Huang; two great-granddaughters; brother-in-law, William Lambert; and several stepchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 54 years, William D. Long, in 1999; second husband, Robert R. Hockensmith, in 2007; brother, Earl Painter; and sister, Donna Lambert. No services or calling. There will be a private burial ceremony and entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park Fort Wayne, Ind. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Arrangements by D.O.
