Charles A. Woods

Charles Andrew "Bubby" Woods, 85. of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away quietly and happily, on April 13, 2024. He was born on February 26, 1939, in Ft. Wayne, IN, to the late Florence R. Woods. Bubby was born in the home of his great-grandfather, on Dalman Ave. in Ft. Wayne. This is the street that his family has lived on for over 100 years. Bubby is a member of the Nathaniel Blanks family. Charles attended Ft. Wayne Community Schools and was an independent worker his entire life. Charles was an awesome cook and taught many friends and family members how to prepare his recipes. He also loved doing yard work and fishing. Bubby grew up in the old Mount Olive (Union) Baptist Church, and later, the old Eliza Street New Life Church of God.

Charles is survived by his twin sister, Charlotte Jean Woods; nephew, Michael K. Woods; cousins, Elaine Edwards-Pruitt, and Miles S. Edwards, PhD.; 2 special cousins, Tracye Pruitt and Tomohn Pruitt; 3 grand-nephews; 1 great-grand niece; and many family members and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Florence R. Woods; Aunt Wanda Woods Edwards; Uncle William Edwards, Sr.; Uncle Roger H. Woods; cousins, Marilyn Ivory, William Edwards, Jr., and Beni ben Nathali.

The family or Charles A. Woods would like to express gratitude and appreciation to the nursing staff and faculty of Byron Wellness Community of Ft. Wayne.

A memorial service for Charles will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 12:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Mungovan, 2114 S. Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne, IN. Bishop Chrystal Thomas of the New Zion Tabernacle Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at Concordia Cemetery and Cremation Gardens, 5300 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne, IN, at a later date.
