

CHARLOTTE B. ANDREWS, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at her residence. She was born on July 24, 1926, in Fort Wayne. She was a graduate of Fort Wayne North Side High School and St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School. She and her high-school sweetheart, Louis H. Andrews, were married on Aug. 1, 1945, and were together raising a family and supporting each other for just over 69 years until Louis' death on Aug. 12, 2014, just seven weeks prior to Charlotte's death. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and other games; reading; being with friends, not only in Fort Wayne, but also in Naples, Fla. and Pinehurst, N.C.; and most of all spending time with her husband and her family, all of whom she cared about and loved deeply. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne Country Club, Saturday Club, Tri Kappa, and Junior League. She is survived by her three children, Deborah (Paul) Helmke of Fort Wayne and Bloomington, Karen (David) Gilliatt of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. and Amy Bell of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Laura (Sean) Helmke Long, Kathryn Helmke, Olivia Gilliatt, and Andrew Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Nina and Nicholas Long. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Irene Goeglein Buesching; father, William J. Buesching; brother, William J. Buesching Jr.; and sister, Doris Buesching Reese. Funeral service is 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 405 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne (IN 46802), with visitation one hour prior to the service. There will be a private interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park of both Mr. and Mrs. Andrews. Memorials should be directed to the church.
