Cheryl Renee Pike, 62, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on March 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 2, 1964, in Fort Wayne to Charles Faurote and Lou Ann Hensel, Cheryl lived a life defined by strength, laughter, and an endless love for the people closest to her.
To know Cheryl was to know joy. She had a contagious laugh, a mischievous spirit, and a way of bringing light into every room she entered. She was always ready for an adventure, always the first to say yes to a new idea, and always the person others could turn to for comfort, strength, and encouragement. Above all else, she loved her family with her whole heart.
Cheryl was a proud graduate of Carroll High School, class of 1982. Determined and hardworking, she later returned to school while raising her two daughters and working full-time, earning her Registered Nursing degree from the University of Saint Francis. Her dedication and perseverance were a powerful example to those around her. For more than 20 years, Cheryl served as a dialysis nurse, where her compassion, skill, and steady presence made a lasting impact on both her patients and coworkers, many of whom grew to love and admire her deeply.
Her greatest pride and joy were her daughters and grandchildren. Cheryl was the kind of mother who showed through her actions what strength, resilience, and unconditional love looked like. When her family moved back to Fort Wayne from Tennessee, she worked three jobs while raising her two girls on her own to buy their first home. She never gave up, and in doing so, she taught her daughters to face life with courage, humor, and determination.
Cheryl was also a devoted and joyful grandmother who adored her three grandchildren. She celebrated every milestone, every holiday, and every moment she could share with them. She loved to spoil them with attention and affection, making sure they always knew how deeply they were loved.
Outside of work and family, Cheryl embraced life fully. She loved traveling—especially trips to the ocean and visits to Las Vegas. She enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf and softball, and soaking up the sunshine whenever she could. She was also a proud and loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cheryl will be remembered as a woman who lived life with heart, humor, and fearless determination. She was one of a kind, and the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Nicole Chapman and Rachael (Joe Loethen) Compton; her beloved grandchildren, Ruby Chapman, Patrick Conley, and Mason Chapman; and her siblings, Sheila (Steve) Wise of Churubusco, Indiana, Joseph Faurote of Richardson, Texas, and Angela Ray of Hicksville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Richard Hensel; and her sister, Sharon Eve Faurote.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815, with calling beginning 30 minutes prior to the service. A celebration of life memorial lunch will follow immediately at Fort Wayne Turners, 3636 Parnell Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.
Cheryl will be deeply missed and forever loved.
