Christina M. Gillespie

Christina M. Gillespie, 59, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 23, in Butler, Indiana. Born on July 2, 1963, in Prince George's Plaza, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Maynard Gillespie, and Bonnie (Davenport) Gillespie, who survives. Christina graduated from Snider High School in 1982, and then continued her education at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, earning her master’s degree in childhood education, over several years. Because of her love for children, Christina taught preschool and kindergarten for a number of years, and later moved into administration, yet always involved with the education of children. Christina has spent the last two years working with children and families as a part of DCS of Allen County, a job she loved greatly. Christina is also survived by her sister, Kathryn A; brother, Kevin L (Julie); nephews, Kevin C (Belle), and Skyler (Anneke); niece, Lindzie (John); great-nephew, Peter; and good friend Tim McKean. A funeral service to honor Christina's life and legacy will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. A calling will also take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Christina’s memory may be directed to Easterseals ARC of Northeast Indiana, Lake Avenue Group Home.
