

Craig Guy Markley, 72, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 2, 2020 in Lakeland, Florida. He was born in Bluffton, Indiana on July 30, 1947 to the late Homer and Mildred (Myers) Markley.
Craig graduated from Bluffton High School in 1965, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in 1972. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and later served in the Army Reserves, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1974. Craig was also the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for distinguished and outstanding meritorious service in Vietnam in 1969.
Craig began a career in 1973 with Lincoln National Life Insurance which led to Midwestern United Life Insurance, and the Golden Rule Insurance Company. He completed his career with Lincoln Financial Group as Vice President, and subsequently retired from Swiss Re in 2008.
Craig was a member of The Chapel, where he enjoyed Samaritan Purse mission trips and working at the food bank. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, St. Francis Cougars Football, and loved IU Basketball. Craig loved spending time and watching sports with his many cherished friends. He also loved his cars and listening to music at Friday Night Lights at Jefferson Point.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria (Markley) Pearson of Marion, IN; and brother, Jerry Markley of Bluffton, IN. Craig is survived by two sisters, Marilyn (Markley) Magley of Centralia, MO and Ann (Markley) Miller of Fort Wayne, IN, and one brother-in-law, Bill Pearson, of Marion, IN. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Janet Pearson, Judy (Charlie) Cox, Brian (Cindy) Pearson, Kent Markley, Julie (Mike) McArdle, Cindy (Curly) Hinspeter, Laura (Dave) Stevens, Phil (Brenda) Magley, Jeff Miller, Linda (Doug) Johnston, and Greg (Sue) Miller.
Funeral service 10:00 am Monday, March 9, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation also from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, March 8, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home. Burial in Six Mile Cemetery, Bluffton, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Graham-Samaritan's Purse or The Chapel.
