Curtis Odell Spencer, 83, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born on June 6, 1940 in Van Cleve, Kentucky, a son of the late Carl and Pearl (Smith) Spencer. He was a Baker for 24 years at Ellison Bakery before retiring in 2000. He spent time working at Oak State Product in Wenona, Illinois. He also owned Odell Cookies and Crème in Angola and Waynedale. He was very passionate about baking at both work and home and was considered one of the top bakers in the United States. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, fishing, and gardening. Most important of all though was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving family include his wife of 63 years, Roselyn M. (Ellis) Spencer; children, Curtis (Shirley) Spencer, Brenda (Gregory) Russell, Diana (Charlie) Venable, Laura Collier, and Deborah (Justin) Chamness; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mitch), Ashley (Greg) Kassandra, Dyonne (Jerry), Briana, Alexzandrea (Bryan), Brandon (Courtney), Sam (Paige), and Jeremy; and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Odell was preceded in passing by his siblings, Effie, Tishie “Bunch”, Thelma, Ray, Ralph, Hershel, and Gene. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials in his memory may be made to Heartland Hospice, Fort Wayne or Buckhorn Children's Foundation, Buckhorn, Kentucky.
