The family of Dale Conrad Johnson of Fort Wayne is deeply saddened to announce his passing on November 21, 2024, at the age of 73 years. Dale was a compassionate and generous man, who didn’t know a stranger and was there to support the people in his life. Dale was born on January 23, 1951, in Anderson Indiana to Jesse Johnson and A. Pearl (Gayles) Alexander. He grew up in Anderson, IN where he played football and graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1969. He also became part of a group of friends called “Anderson Best Friends Forever”. The group’s mission is to aid the under-served in the Anderson area, especially the kids. Dale was a fun-loving, kind, and giving man. He was a retiree of General Motors with over 50+ years of service. During his time with General Motors, he became affectionately known as “the candy man” due to the duffle bag full of candy he would bring to work to keep the candy dishes there full. This nickname carried over to his Alcoholics Anonymous group, where he was able to not only supply his friends with candy but help them through their struggles with addiction while recovering from his own. This meant a great deal to him. In his leisure time, Dale enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially football. For all who knew Dale, knew his team was “The Bears.” He always loved a good soap opera and, Bob and Tom, and The Ms Pat Show. Dale is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Johnson & Annie Pearl Alexander; Stepfather Willie Alexander; his sisters, Irma Young, Dorothy Sinclair, Edna Cobb, and Faye Patterson; brother Reverend Alfred Johnson, and grandson Cavin Turner. Dale Johnson is survived by his four children Jennifer Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Corey Johnson, and Casey Johnson; his grandchildren Morgan Turner, Tyler Johnson, and Courtnie Johnson; his sister Patricia Shande; his brothers Bruce Johnson and Gayle Johnson; his ex-wife and close friend Betty Johnson, and many adored nieces and nephews. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. To honor Dale’s memory, a celebration of life gathering will be held on December 15, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Firefighter’s Union Hall. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance and support during this difficult time. Guests are encouraged to wear NFL gear. Firefighter’s Union Hall Address: 1405 Broadway Fort Wayne, IN 46802 May Dale Conrad Johnson rest in peace, and may his family and friends find strength and comfort in the memories of the love they shared.
