Daniel was the beloved husband of Marlene (née Lentz) Braun for 53 years and the devoted father of Adam (Sarah) of Bloomington and Bonnie (Simon) of Indianapolis. He was a proud grandfather to Mikey, Stella, and Allyanna.
He is survived by his siblings David and Christine and was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene, and his brothers Michael and Timothy.
Daniel graduated from Bishop Luers High School in 1968 and earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of Saint Francis. A lifelong Fort Wayne resident, he built a long and successful career with GlaxoSmithKline. Daniel held a deep love of music—especially The Beatles—and was a loyal Notre Dame football Indiana University basketball fan. An artist at heart, he admired the work of Vincent van Gogh and the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and enjoyed creative pursuits throughout his life. He loved nature and travel, with a special interest in butterflies and a habit of collecting rocks as keepsakes from the places he visited. Daniel’s nostalgic affection for Disney films and parks reflected his enduring curiosity and appreciation for wonder.
An animal lover, Daniel cared for many beloved dogs over the years, including Muffy, Buffy, Buttons, Boo, Katie, and Abby. Known for his humor, kindness, and signature Hawaiian shirts, Daniel brought warmth and joy to those around him. His warmth and heartfelt kindness will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
A memorial service and reception will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel’s name to the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory’s Butterfly Exhibit and his alma mater, the University of Saint Francis BFA program.
The family has entrusted D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park with arrangements.
