Darrell Eugene Austin, age 59, of Kendallville, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021. He was born October 23, 1962 in Fort Wayne, Ind. to the late Leo and Cretha Austin, Sr. His career as an auto mechanic spurned his passion for race cars and love for the Indy 500. Darrell is survived by his son, Darrell Brown; brothers, Tony L. (Cheryl A.) Austin, Leo (Pam Jones) Austin Jr., Michael (Brenda Green) Austin, and Clifford Hatch; sister, Carol Austin; nephews, Michael Austin Jr., Christopher Hatch, Christopher (Toya) Austin, C.J. Austin, and Ken (Angela) Austin; nieces, Mikel Austin, Cretha Austin, Christina Hatch, Brandy (Danyelle) Austin, Akhia Austin, Crystal Austin, Sherrie (Tazz Lee); companion, Julie Cates; and a host of friends and family including Curtis (Vicki) Setser, James (Taneka) Clopton, Suzanne Mountz, Darren Cates, Ken Norwood, and Reggie (Penny) Turner.
