

David Forrest Stevenson passed away peacefully on July 14,2025 at the age of 78, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living where he resided for the past three years. He was born on March 26, 1947, in Glendale, California. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Clarence “Steve” Henry Stevenson III (1997) and Virginia (Romig) Stevenson (1984) and older brother, Clarence “Steve” Henry Stevenson IV (2012).
David is survived by the mother of his three children, Alison A. Stevenson of Fort Wayne, Indiana and his daughters, Darcy Collette of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Stacy Hyatt of Santa Paula, California and Melissa (Brent) McKown of Fort Wayne, Indiana and will be fondly remembered by his nieces/nephews and grandchildren.
David grew up in Glendale, California attending Glendale High School, and earning his associate’s degree in real estate from Glendale Community College. He enjoyed spending time in Chewelah, Washington (Waitts Lake); Bend, Oregon; Ventura, California; and finally retiring where his daughter Melissa resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2001.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force as an inventory and supply manager from 1967 to 1970, earning the rank of sergeant while bravely serving his country in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. During his enlistment, he earned the Air Force Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon.
He enjoyed many interesting hobbies throughout his life, including photography, birdwatching, gardening/flowers, fishing, canoeing, flying planes as a private pilot, paragliding, snow skiing, waterskiing, real estate, stained glass, painting and building computers. His favorite pastime was going out to dinner with his daughter, her husband and their daughter, Taylor, once a week. He was a huge lover of all animals, but was particularly fond of horses, cats (his favorite Woody), his Mastiff Jada and the raccoons of Falcon Creek neighborhood. He also rescued many kittens and raised many cats over the years.
His family would like to thank the caregivers at Cedar Creek and Heart to Heart Hospice for providing amazing care over the past three years, as well as at the end of his life.
A memorial service will be held in the future at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana, where a marker will be placed to honor him and his service to our country. His ashes will be scattered at sea.
