Delana Rose Levy, 90, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Born February 20, 1932, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Joseph John Druhot and Martha Blanche Masters Druhot.
Delana enjoyed a close relationship with her younger brother, Ted, all her life. Delana attended grade school at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and graduated from Central Catholic High School. She went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Ball State Teachers College, where she was also an active chapter member of Sigma Alpha Iota. Following her graduation, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Levy, with whom she grew up as childhood friends and neighbors, and later enjoyed a 35-year marriage. Delana and Dick raised two children, Mary Lynn and Jim, spending their summers off from teaching seeing the country together in the family’s 1964 Apache Camper. Delana’s passion was music. She loved to sing, play piano and cello, and enjoyed all types of theatre. She was a beloved chorus and music teacher at Bishop Dwenger High School for 18 years, directing countless school musicals and choir performances. She had an amazing gift for teaching and was deeply committed to helping her students grow as musicians, singers, actors, and individuals. In retirement, Delana spent years attending her grandsons’ dance and show choir productions, one of the great joys of her life. Delana was an active community member, serving as a president of the Cedar Creek Women’s Club, president of Morning Musical, and a board member for the Foster Grandparents program. She was firmly guided by her faith and looked forward to attending mass at St. Vincent’s every Sunday. Delana was a warm and jovial person, who always had a smile on her face. Her strength and generosity were felt by all, and she welcomed everyone with open arms.

She is survived by her brother, Ted (Carol) Druhot; son, Jim (Carol) Levy; four grandchildren, Garod (Kimdra) Cavanaugh, Andrew Cavanaugh, Jena (Daniel) Green, and Joel Levy; and three great-grandchildren, Lilah, Logan, and Keygan.
