Dennis A. Coplen

Dennis Allen Coplen, 72, was called to be with the Lord on October 12, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born May 21, 1949 in Fort Wayne, Dennis was the son of the late Allen and H. Faye (Lambert) Coplen. Dennis was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and good friend. His family brought him great pride and joy. Helping his family was most important to him. Dennis also enjoyed his Shelby cars, travels, and Notre Dame football. Dennis graduated from Southside HS in 1968. He retired as a Supervisor at the Allen County Highway Department in 2008. Dennis is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosalie, of New Haven; daughter, Heather Y. Smith; grandchildren, Hannah and Colton, all of Fort Wayne; sister, Catherine Crandall of Cumming, GA; brother-in-law, Fred Kilpatrick of Fort Wayne; two nieces; and longtime loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Kilpatrick and brother-in-law, Richard Crandall. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne, IN 46805. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm. Entombment will take place in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association of the American Cancer Society.
