I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Praying for comfort for the family. 

I knew Don as a fellow congregant and long time usher at First Presbyterian Church.  I had the privilege of serving as Don's 'deacon friend' for the past four years, and enjoyed visiting with him from time to time at Heritage Pointe.  Don suffered from memory issues, so I always had to remind him who I was and where I was from, but he always seemed glad to see me.  I always enjoyed our time together.

Uncle Don was a very special man.  As he often said, his family meant everything to him.  Don continued to send birthday cards to us and our children even into his 80s.  Don was also a wealth of information, and I always learned something new after talking to him.  I've never met a more caring, gracious, and kind man.  He was a rare example of what a Godly man can be, and he is already missed.  

I had the pleasure of living across from Don for almost two decades.  He was the neighbor we all dream of having.  He was a very kind, gentle, patient, passionate man.  He was always looking out for our house, family and well being.  He always made sure to let me know if any shenanigans had been going on.  lol.  I always tried to keep up with him on my lawn manicure, but never succeeded.  He was the kind of neighbor you could rely on and looked up to for anything.  He always had the best stories and life experiences to listen too.  I try to do the same things he taught me along the way about being a good neighbor.  I know he loved his family deeply!  Our condolences to the family!  In our thoughts and prayers.      

I'm so sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was a faithful usher at First Presbyterian Church when I first arrived as the pastor. I enjoyed my conversations with him very much. He was a Jubilee member here and I'm thankful for his service. If there is anything I or the church can do, please let me know.

My Grandpa was a magnificent man. He had the kindest and most forgiving soul. 
As a child I had many of my "firsts" with him. You could even say he was my very first best friend. 
He was smart, gentle, attentive, calm, forgiving, patient, loving, and so much more. 
The amount of memories I have would fill hundreds of notebooks. 
As he would always say: "I am glad you are a part of our family."
But we were the truly lucky ones.
I will miss him and my Grandma for the rest of my days. 

He was the most sweetest, kind man. I wasn’t his blood but he used to treat me like I was. He would come over and bring me and my sister sommer kettle cooked popcorn and Andes mints. He would ask us how we’re doing and hangout with us for a bit and then give us both a hug and leave. And he would never forget a birthday, every year he’d send my sister and I a birthday card with money it that was the age we were turning, he never had to do any of that but each year he did it anyways.  To this day i still consider him my grandpa. I will miss him, and his memory will live on. ❤️

Always loved chatting with Don on the rare times we got to visit over my adult years!  Such a great smile and uplifting attitude!  Prayers to you all!

So many memories of having dinner at Richard's Restaurant with Don and Ruth or at their home,  as a teenager.  Don truly was an extraordinary man,  who loved his grandkids more than anything and it showed.  He always had a smile on his face,  and candy in his pockets for the kids,  even mine when I became an adult and had children of my own.  Related by marriage in a way,  I  will always consider him family.  He truly will be missed.  Much love and condolences to his family.
