Donald “Don” K. Rockhill, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Kingston Care Center. Born in Fort Wayne on March 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Amos and Olive (Carmean) Rockhill. Don graduated from Riley High School in South Bend. He honorably served in the Army Air Force, enlisting when he was just 17 years old. Don was married to Virginia (Doolen) Rockhill for 64 years, and together they built a life and raised their family in Fort Wayne. He received a degree in electrical engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technologies, and was employed by Magnavox Electronics in both Fort Wayne and Greenville, Tennessee for most of his career. When not working, Don enjoyed being outdoors camping and hiking, especially trekking the Appalachian Trails. He was an avid reader and was always proud to share obscure trivia. Don is survived by his daughter, Melissa K. (Brian) Sprunger; grandson, Dr. Joel (Kristen) Sprunger of Cincinnati; granddaughter, Lindsay I. (Stephen) Garden of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Claire Sprunger, Benjamin Garden, Lewis Garden, and Auden Sprunger. He was preceded in passing by his wife, Virginia Rockhill; son, Gregory Rockhill; and brothers, William, Ronald (his twin), and Allan Rockhill. A private family service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Harvest Foodbank, 999 East Tillman Road, Fort Wayne, 46816 in Donald’s name.
