Donna Harris

She was a multi gallon blood donor for the Red Cross. She coached CYO volleyball and basketball at Sacred Heart School. Donna worked as a WSI at Ft. Wayne City Pools and at the downtown YMCA. Donna was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart/St. Henry’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1006, American Legion Auxiliary Post 296, and an honorary member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4717 in Wolf Lake, IN. Donna married Max F. Harris on April 23 1949 and after celebrating 62 years of marriage Max crossed the finish line ahead of her. He nosed her out by four months, as Max passed away June 3, 2011. Donna is survived by her children; Connie (Gary) Waters Elwood of Wolf Lake, IN, Kevin (Carole) Harris of Ft. Wayne, Pollie (Pat) Knight of Somerset, MI, John (Kim) Harris of Albion, Julie (Tim) Jackson of Byron Center, MI; brother, Thomas Butler; sister in law, Joan Butler; 17 grandchildren and 10.5 really great grandchildren. Donna was also preceded in death by a son, Kelly J. Harris and two brothers Richard and Norman Butler.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 13, 201 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, 6810 Old Trail Road, Ft. Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the funeral home. A rosary will be said at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be to Parkview Hospice.
