Donna Rae Shady

Donna Rae Shady, 84, passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 20, 2022, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her family by her side. She was born in Fort Wayne on August 14, 1938 to Brooks and Rachel (Conrad) McCague. Donna was the eldest of three children, who all grew up in the North Anthony Corridor neighborhood. Donna graduated from North Side High School and remained an active alumni member for her entire adult life. She and her husband, Lynn of 61 years, decided to reside in the same neighborhood area to raise their son Greg. Donna’s favorite memories were from family trips to visit her mother’s family in Wayland, Iowa. Donna was one of 17 first cousins in the Conrad family that spent their summers together in Iowa. The Conrad Cousins’ had family reunions as they all started their own families, and continued the tradition, traveling across the country to gather with one another. Including Donna, there were 8 remaining cousins who continue to stay in touch with each other. Donna’s favorite pastime was spending time with friends over dinner and listening to Jazz music. She and her husband, Lynn W. Shady, were frequently going out several evenings each week to listen to local musicians. Donna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Linda (Parnin) Shady; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Greg Gemmill; her brother, Ken Millikan; her brother-in-law, Neal Shady and his wife Donna; nephews and nieces: Darren and Aubrey Bogdon, Dean Bogdon, Dalton Bogdon, Mark and Michelle Bordner, Steve and Kelly Bordner, Laura (Bordner) and Jeff Adams, Stephen Bordner, Drew Bordner, and five Conrad Cousins, Lucille (Allan), Pauline, Emma Jean (John), Ernie (Flora) and Carol (Bob). Donna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her in-laws, Wendel and Gaynell (Bryant) Shady, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marcella (Shady) and Neal Bordner. A funeral service to honor Donna's life and legacy will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
