Doris Winona Haupert

Doris Winona Haupert, 95, of Auburn, IN, passed away December 8, 2025, at Ashton Creek Health and Rehab Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on February 11, 1930, in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Elmer H. and Mary A. Duhamell.

Doris graduated from Urbana High School in Urbana, IN, in 1949. She married Willis F. Haupert on May 11, 1949.

She worked at General Electric for eight years, the Towne House as the laundry supervisor for eleven years, also worked as a cashier at Dollar General for almost 10 years and retired in 2005.

Doris enjoyed tending to her flowers, playing cards, going out to eat, especially for breakfast. She enjoyed traveling and taking several bus trips, but her favorite experience was going to Hawaii. Doris was an avid reader of the newspaper and never finished a day, regardless of how late it was, until she read it from cover to cover. When not reading, one of her favorite pastimes was watching Dancing with the Stars.

Her true passion was being able to spend time with her family, especially with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children, Roger Haupert of Fort Wayne, IN and Kimberly (Larry) Schaefer of Leo, IN; grandsons, Matthew Schaefer of Auburn, IN and Jason (Kristy) Schaeffer of Fort Wayne, IN; and two great-grandchildren, Thea and Bea Schaefer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Willis F. Haupert on October 16, 1995; brothers, Derwood Duhamell, Leonel Duhamell and Donald Duhamell; sisters, Geraldine Keaffaber, Helen Haines, and Betty Brubaker; and her companion of 25 years, Wayne Boyd.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, December 15, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park, 1320 E. Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the funeral home.

Private burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 11201 S. Marion Rd. 35, Marion, IN. 46952.
