Doug was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and graduated from Marshall High School.
Following high school, Doug joined the US Army and served for 2 years.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Treena (Roger) Smith; granddaughters, Regan Miner (Auston Robert), Haylee King, Melania King; great-grandchildren, Rayner and Lucas; sisters, Connie Michael (Bill Knight), Karen Flathau, Kathy Kapplemann (Dale); step-sister, Ruthann Burch; step-brother, Steven Smith (Sue); and many nephews & nieces.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret W. Smith; father, Lester D. Smith; step-father, Donald Smith; step-brother, Gene Smith; nephew, Howard D. Fry; Niece, Denice Cook; and brother-in-law, John C. Flathau II.
At Doug’s request, there will be no services.
