

Earl Abner Hoke, 84, died March 27, 2014, surrounded by his family, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 12, 1929 to the late Howard Elmer and Lillie Alice Hoke. He lived his entire life in Waynedale and the surrounding area. Mr. Hoke was a graduate of Elmhurst High School in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had a lifetime devotion to farming and took true pleasure driving a bus for FWCS for 46 years. He also enjoyed gardening and his pets. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence Edwina (Swencki) Hoke; his children, Susan (Hal) Springer of Berrien Springs, MI, Judy (Dale) Teeple of Bancroft, MI, Delores Hoke, and Howard A. Hoke both of Ft. Wayne; his brother, Virgil Hoke of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Sarah (Casey) Damron, Nathan Springer, Phillip (Sarah) Teeple, Kevin (Erin) Teeple, and Katie (Ryan) Gillette; great grandchildren, Emmalyn Teeple, Bentley Teeple, and Harper Teeple. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Homer and Orval Hoke. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46809 with calling one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-8 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or New Hope Hospice.
