

She was born on April 28, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a daughter of the late Paul and Anna Marie (Hewett) Dekker. She worked as a LPN for more than 40 years, serving many facilities in the Fort Wayne area, but she primarily spent her time working at Lutheran Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed spending her time gardening, canning, traveling, and her animals.
Surviving family include her husband of 57 years, David Browne; children, Christopher Browne and Jeannette (David Frey) Browne; grandchildren, Jordain (Mike) McDermott, Cassie (Matt) Browne, Matt Dekker, and Justin (Danielle) Dekker; great granddaughters, Madison McDermott and Alaina Dekker; and a brother, Paul Richard Dekker. Beside her parents, Eleanor was preceded in passing by her siblings, Anna, Steve, Shirley, and Calvin.
A funeral service celebrating Eleanor's life will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials in her memory may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
