Elfriede “Freddie” Samuel, 84, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023. She wrote, “God blessed my life with wonderful people. I hope you smile when you remember me as I have smiled in thinking of you.”
She has joined her beloved husband, Robert “Sam” Samuel and son, Michael, along with her parents, George and Hedwig Eder in heaven.
Freddie was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she served by scheduling funeral luncheons. She will be missed by her bible study and many friends and will be remembered for consideration and never having said a bad word about anyone.
Born in Michigan, she was a Fort Wayne resident since the 1960’ s. She is survived by her grandson, Robert “Robbie” (Kelzi) Samuel, great grandchildren, Ava and Asher of Pleasant Grove, Utah, her family in heart, Leslie and Joe Shrenkel, grandchildren, Allison (Eric) Louderback, Tori Shrenkel, James (Yolanda) McHenry, best friend, Patty Volmerding; her sister, Sr. Margot Eder, C.S.J.; brother and sister-in-law, George and Joann Eder.
A non-techie, Freddie, single-handedly worked to support the post office by remembering every birthday, anniversary, and celebration of every family member or friend.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023 at St. Charles Catholic Church 4916 Trier Rd. (46815) with visitation an hour prior. Visitation also on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 4 pm - 8 pm at D. O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
