Flortacia Neshawn Copeland

Flortacia Neshawn Steele Copeland’s journey in life began on October 25, 1974 when she was born a daughter of Ricardo Steele and the late Marilyn Kay Gaines. She was a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana and passed away at the age of 49 on Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was a mother of five children and grandmother to nine. "Mama Flo" as she was known, was loved for her kind spirit, loving and nurturing heart. If you needed shelter, food, love and nurturing, she would be the one to give it to you. She really loved cooking, singing, telling jokes and uplifting you if you were down. Spending time with her friends and family always brought great joy. She was a “Bunche Baby” (Bunche Elementary School) alumni at heart. We will miss her beautiful smile and compassion towards others. “Mama Flo” was a beautiful person inside and out. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Naquasha Copeland; and grandmother, Bessie Coleman. Precious memories will always remain and her legacy continued with her children, Dominique Steele, Destiny Steele, Naetacia Copeland, Nathaniel Copeland and T’Darrius Copeland; father, Ricardo Steele; 9 grandchildren; a brother, Wilbert Brantley and a sister, Wintress Ebony Steele; two nephews, Daniel Harris and Demond Harris; several aunts, uncles and a host of cousins; best friend, “Tootie” Arthur Allen; and many other friends. A visitation for Flortacia will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 PM.
