Gene K. Smith, 93, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on December 27, 2024. He was born October 28, 1931, in Collamer, Indiana, a son of the late Walter S. and Roxy C. (Paul) Smith. He graduated from Central High School, Fort Wayne in 1948. He was a Korean War veteran serving in Army and retired from the United States Post Office. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing with his brother in Florida and spending time at St. Joe Valley Conservation Club where he was a lifetime member.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Paulette; daughter Kimberly (Terry) Griffiths of Fort Wayne; son Keith Smith of Buffalo Grove, IL; sister Judy (Rick) Kneisley of Texas; grandchildren Ashley Griffiths, Tyler (Alexus) Griffiths, Olive Smith, Miles Smith; and great-granddaughter Ila Griffiths; also surviving are several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil L. Smith and Ricky Paul Smith; and sisters, Norma Koch and Carol Ramsey.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, January 4, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday January 3, 2025 at the funeral home. Committal and Burial at Concordia Gardens Cemetery.
