

Gene graduated from South Side High School in 1951. He proudly served his country and was a Korean War Army Veteran. He continued to serve the Fort Wayne Community as a Police Officer for 20 years, retiring from the department in 1974. After retirement, he worked as a Special Investigator for the prosecuting attorney for 5 years. Gene continued serving his community as the Head of Lutheran Hospital Safety and Security for 12 years. He was a member of Life Community Church, and a proud member and supporter of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jackie Towns of Markle, IN; daughters, Kristine (Steve) Kingsley, Cynthia (Dick) Limburg, both of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Patricia Kocks; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Kocks.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, May 9, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also take place from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Markle Cemetery, Markle, Indiana.
