George David Weichselfelder, 71, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 21, 1954, in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of the late George Lee and Takeko Weichselfelder.
George graduated from Concordia High School in 1972 and earned his associate degree from ITT.
He started his career in communications for the city of Fort Wayne and later changed careers and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad (Lake Division) in 2022.
He lived his life to the fullest with love, laughter and happiness. George was always the life of the party and never knew a stranger. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and loved spending time with his family and friends. George was a very active member of the Eagles Post 248, and always the first to greet you with a hug, kiss or a pat on the back. On a really good day, you would get all three. When he was not at the Eagles or the golf course, you could find him at home taking full care of his son Gabriel, hanging out with his daughter Lacey or spending time with his favorite person, his grandson Giorgio. George would not want tears, but instead lots of laughter, remembering all the great times we had with him. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his daughter, Lacey (fiancée Bailey Shimer) Weichselfelder; son, Gabriel Weichselfelder; stepson, Benjamin (fiancée’ Latefa) Dinken; grandson, Giorgio Weichselfelder; and a brother, Jeff (Tracy) Weichselfelder.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Weichselfelder; his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Mike Webb; and stepson, Nathan Dinken.
A memorial gathering will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorials may be made to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital – Indianapolis. https://healthcare.ascension.org/locations/indiana/inasc/indianapolis-ascension-st-vincent-hospital
