H. Carolyn (Hardy) Darnell, age 87, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on October 22, 2018, at Parkview Randallia Hospice. She was born on September 26, 1931, in Dallas, GA. She spent much of her youth in Oviedo, FL, where she graduated from Oviedo High School and attended Orlando business school. On December 11, 1952, she married William “Bill” Darnell in Florida. Over the years, she worked for the Kroger Offices, Steuben County Welfare Department, and Park Center where she retired in 1997. Carolyn was a member of the St. Joseph United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a TOPS member for 45 years. She loved her church, family, and friends. She is survived by her sons, Gary Darnell of Corunna, IN, and Mark Darnell of Ormond Beach, FL; granddaughter, Laura Buell of Angola, IN; great-granddaughter, Leila Buell of Pleasant Lake, IN; grandson, Ben Darnell of Hartford, CT; sister, Martha Jean Smith of Austell, GA; brother, Donald Hardy of Orlando, FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Darnell, parents; Lawson and Grace Hardy, brother-in-law, Grady Smith, and sister-in-law, Georgene Hardy. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park. Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery.
