On June 18, 2023 Helen’s race was won, God provided heavenly healing as she was welcomed home by our Lord & Savior. Helen served faithfully in her personal and professional life. Helen was a dedicated Federal Employee advocating and witnessing to all who crossed her path at the Veterans Administration and later at the Social Security Administration. Helen enjoyed singing and volunteering at church and the mission. Helen had a tremendous love for gardening, her dog and helping others. Helen faced many adversities in her life however she always said, “each hard time gets you ready for the next.” Helen in her many struggles in this life, did not hesitate to witness and praise God no matter where she went, or her own circumstances. Helen gave freely and often expressed Proverbs 3:27 in her own way stating, “If it is within your power to help someone, you are to do it.” She not only understood that we are the hands & feet of Jesus, but she walked it out every day in every way.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents George & Betty, her beloved daughter Jordan, her brother-in-law (Jerry). Helen leaves behind until the heavenly reunion, 3 daughters and 1 son; Alicia Herber (Ben), Ricki Wenger (Craig), Steven Purdy (Nikki), Amanda Nelson (Jamin). Helen also leaves for now her beloved 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister, two brothers and her dog Hazel. Helen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible. She was so very proud of her family and the legacy that she was leaving. Helen went by many titles to those who will miss her the most, Mom, Momma, MiMi, Grandma Helen, Grandma Henan & Granny. It is her memory that will live on and her wish of keeping God close that we will honor.
Today though a piece of our heart is gone with her, we honor her by saying, “Thank You Mom for our faith, your fight and Save Us a Seat”………..
A Celebration of Life is 11 am Saturday, July 1 at The Pointe Church, 5335 Bass Rd, Fort Wayne with a reception to follow. Donations in Helen’s honor may be placed with Cancer Services of Northeastern Indiana, 6316 Mutual Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
