

IMOGENE A. (nee BROOKS) JAMES, 87, passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Kingston Residence after a prolonged battle with Alz heimer's. Born Feb. 24, 1929, in Kilsyth, W.Va., she was a daughter of Charles C. and Betsy J. Brooks. Imogene retired from GTE as a data entry supervisor after 25 years of service. Imogene loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel, cook, crochet, and record classic movies. She was a member of the Waynedale Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star (600). Surviving are her beloved husband of 64 years, Archie J. James; son, Archie F. (Susan) James; daughter, Betsy (Michael) Motter; five grandchildren, Benjamin and Paul James, James, Elizabeth and Thomas Motter; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Williams and Simon Motter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Rick Hawks officiating. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or Heartland Hospice of Fort Wayne.
