Isabelle "Isy" Anne Bosse

Isy, the youngest of three children, was born on July 13, 1929 to Thomas Arnold and Janet Mary (Frasier) Duwelius in Elkhart, Indiana. She graduated in 1947 from Elkhart High School and attended Indiana State University for 2 years, where she was a member of Tri Kappa sorority. In 1949, she married Donald Frederick Bosse. After their 3 children were born, Isy went back to school and graduated Magna Sum Laude from Indiana University with a B.S. and M.S. in education. She taught 3rd grade at Highland Elementary School in New Haven, Indiana.

Isy was proud of her Scottish heritage, and along with Don spent time volunteering with the Fort Wayne Highland Games. She and Don traveled the USA and abroad, and she especially enjoyed visiting her cousins in Glasgow, Scotland and traveling the route of her grandparents. Isy was an avid reader, gardener, knitter and seamstress.

Isy is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Dennis) and Rebecca (Robert); son, Thomas (Lea); as well as 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Isy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2024; her brothers, Thomas and James Duwelius; and nephew, Richard Duwelius.

The family wishes to thank the nurses from Heartland Hospice and the staff at the Towne House Retirement Community for their loving care of Isabelle.

Committal Service is 1 pm, Friday, August 8, 2025 at Rice Cemetery, 400 James St, Elkhart, Indiana.
