Jack Lewis Lapinsky

Jack’s creativity was the driving force of his life. His love of photography, poetry, literature and music let him to an eclectic group of friends that contributed to his joy of living. Jack studied photography in Florida, which led him to open his photography studio on 4th Avenue in Tucson, Arizona in the 1970s. He attended Pima College and contributed to the development of curriculum at the Beacon Foundation where he enjoyed teaching independent living skills to developmentally challenged individuals. He also applied these talents at Project RAISE. His deep interest in poetry drew in him a desire to share this passion and encourage others to see the beauty of poetry. Jack opened his home to fellow poets who shared their original works. It was at this time Jack met Alison Vyain who introduced him to her mother, Cheryl Rider. Cheryl and Jack then formed the foundation of their long-term commitment to each other. Jack joined Cheryl in Fort Wayne and shared the love and companionship of her children and grandchildren where he relished being a grandparent. Jack and Cheryl became active in the League for the Blind & Disabled in Fort Wayne.

Jack is survived by his life partner, Cheryl Rider; Cheryl’s children, Sean (Rachael) Vyain of Fishers, Indiana and Alison Vyain of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Hannah & Reeder Vyain and Ariana & Emily Zirkle; niece, Beth Fox of Ellicott City, Maryland; and nephew, David (Meghan) Fox of Roswell, Georgia. Jack is also preceded in death by his sister, Anita Fox.

A Celebration of Life Will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 4 PM with visitation one hour prior at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Masks are recommended at the funeral home.
