Janet (Jan) Rison died peacefully at Lutheran Life Villages of Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Jan had turned 88 years old in early October and was the daughter of Sophia (Humcke) and Bert Rison.
Jan lived her entire life in Fort Wayne and was a graduate of South Side High School and Indiana University Fort Wayne, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration. From the day she graduated high school until her retirement, she worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Company. Jan was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and in her retirement, she was a volunteer at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.
She is survived by eight nieces and nephews: Richard Rison and Beverly Carnes of Fort Wayne, Susan Hintz of Garrison of North Dakota, David Bender of Indianapolis, Cindy Hundt of Waukesha, WI, Beth Volosin of North Lima, OH, Sarah Waggoner of Berkeley, CA, and John Waggoner of Vienna, VA. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Rison; and sisters, Betty Bender, Jane Lake, and Dorothy Mundinger.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne.
